Position Overview: As the Executive Director, you will be the driving force behind the strategic vision and operational success of CFK. You will lead a team of passionate professionals and collaborate with stakeholders to fulfill our mission of creating relational connections and resiliency for children, families and social workers connected to the foster care system.

This position offers a unique opportunity to significantly impact the lives of the most vulnerable youth in the Greater Charlotte area and contribute to positive systemic change in the foster care space. This role requires a dynamic and compassionate leader who is passionate about improving the lives of children in the foster care system and skilled in building strong community partnerships.


Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Provide visionary leadership to staff, volunteers, and the board of directors.

  • Develop and implement strategic plans, goals and objectives in alignment with the organization’s mission and values.

  • Working with the Director of Operations, identify and develop metrics that will measure the impact of programs and events.

 

Program Development and Management:

  • Oversee all programmatic activities, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services and support to children in foster care, caregivers and social workers.

  • Ensure programs are effective, sustainable, and aligned with community needs.

  • Cultivate partnerships with faith-based organizations, community groups, and other stakeholders to enhance program delivery.

 

Fundraising and Financial Management:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy to secure diverse revenue streams, including grants, donations, and sponsorships.

  • Manage the organization’s budget, ensuring financial stability as well as transparency, accountability, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Provide regular financial reports to the board of directors and stakeholders.

  • Cultivate donor relationships, church partnerships and corporate partnerships to pursue grant opportunities to secure financial resources for CFK’s sustainability and growth.

 

Community Engagement & Advocacy:

  • Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with government agencies, community organizations and other key stakeholders to advocate for children in foster care and expand CFK’s impact.

  • Serve as a spokesperson for the organization, representing its interests in public forums, media engagements, and advocacy campaigns to raise awareness about foster care issues, needs and CFK programming impact.

 

Team Management:

  • Foster a positive and inclusive organizational culture that promotes collaboration, innovation, and excellence.

  • Provide effective leadership, mentoring, and supervision to CFK team members, continuing to build upon a culture that maintains the core values of integrity, honesty, vulnerability, and advocacy at the highest quality.

  • Provide strategic oversight of resource planning, including the hiring and development of team members whose passions align with the mission and core values of CFK and the team culture.

 

Board Engagement:

  • Collaborate with the board of directors to ensure effective governance and organizational oversight.

  • Provide regular updates to the board on the organization’s activities, achievements, and challenges.

  • Support the recruitment, development, and engagement of board members.


Qualifications:

  • CFK is a faith fueled nonprofit with statements of faith in which all team and board members believe in.

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, nonprofit management, public administration, or a related field.

  • Proven leadership experience in the nonprofit sector, particularly in roles focused on child welfare or related issues.

  • Strong understanding of the foster care system, including knowledge of relevant policies, regulations, and best practices.

  • Demonstrated track record of successful fundraising, grant writing and/or donor stewardship.

  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning, program development, and fundraising.

  • Strong financial management skills, with experience managing budgets and financial reporting.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and engage diverse audiences and convey complex ideas effectively; proven abilities in public speaking.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute innovative solutions to address systemic challenges.

  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion with a demonstrated understanding of cultural competence and sensitivity.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, with a passion for making an impact on the most vulnerable children in our city.

  • Experience working with faith-based organizations and understanding of the unique dynamics of these partnerships is a plus.
